Herbalife is a multi-level marketing company, founded in 1980, by Mark Hughes, and has its corporate headquarters in Los Angeles, California. Many have heard of this well-known company, that focuses on nutrition, by selling supplements and specializing in weight management and sports nutrition. Some of the products they sell are:

- Protein Bars
Mark Hughes, the founder, began his career by selling products from his car trunk. Since that time, the company has grown to employ eight thousand people in the United States and in Japan, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand and Spain. In 1985, an American weekly magazine, Inc., reported that Herbalife was known as the fastest growing private company in the United States. After Mark Hughes died in 1944, Herbalife went through some ownership and name changes and changes in their business model. Since it is a multi-level company, the FTC requires them to prove that at least eighty percent of their products are sold to those who are not part of the distribution network and that their sales are legitimate. They have had to change some of their selling ways and must continue to comply with the rules and regulations set by the FTC. In the meantime, their share prices have increased and products are selling.
In Herbalife’s “Our Stories” posts, one story tells how excited their members and employees are because of their support for the Special Olympics, an event where physically and mentally challenged individuals to participate in an international competition. They all love working for a company that “turns words and ideas into actions” and for a company that supports this great event. There were seven thousand participants, and Herbalife helped ten percent of these Special Olympic athletes by providing:

Herbalife has seen the uplifting attitudes and great determination by these athletes, which inspires them to want to do more to fight in the battles people face with being overweight and having chronic diseases, due to poor nutrition. They have used their logo on protein products to show support globally. They will continue to help this great venue for years to come and are proud to do so.
